Bloodborne pathogens can cause dangerous health hazard to people when they exposed to potentially infectious blood while doing tattooing or any other body piercing activities. If care is not taken, accidental exposure to bloodborne pathogens can cause Tuberculosis, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, AIDS viruses and HIV and many other health problems due to gems, viruses and bacteria.
All body art workers have to comply with the federal law and must undergo appropriate training to understand the causes of infection, preventive measures and safety procedures. These employees too should be vaccinated against Hepatitis B.
Tattoo Artist and Body Piercers can cause infection to customers or get infected themselves too if they don’t follow standard safety methods and practices as prescribed by OSHA. OSHA standard 29 CFR § 1910.1030 regulations mandate that all Tattoo artists and Body Piercers adhere to the safety rules and regulations.
The online training course covers the safety standards and regulations, types of risks, nature of infections, reasons for taking precautions and various safety controls to be practiced to prevent workers from getting infected from bloodborne pathogens.
All tattoo workers, body piercers and their employees can be exposed to infected blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM).
