This course presents an overview of safety information and regulations for employees who work with benzene in the state of California. The course includes an overview of benzene, a summary of benzene safety and health hazards, and a listing of benzene safe work practices, as well as the requirements for monitoring employee exposure to benzene, communicating benzene hazards to employees, and maintaining benzene-related records.
This online course satisfies the training requirements for the Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCR, Section 5218 Benzene Safety Standard.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) Title 8 California Code of Regulations (CCR), Article 108, section 5218 sets forth regulations for occupational exposure to benzene. The subsections, each of which will be covered in this course, set forth employee exposure limits, exposure monitoring and oversight requirements, compliance methods, respiratory protection and personal protective equipment requirements, medical surveillance parameters, hazard communication guidelines, and recordkeeping requirements.
Anyone who has occupational exposure to benzene, either one time or on an ongoing basis, should understand the hazards of exposure to benzene and be familiar with safe work practices that minimize that exposure. Persons who may be frequently exposed to benzene include steelworkers, refinery workers, tire manufacturing workers, printers, shoemakers, lab technicians, gas station employees, and firefighters.
Our Cal/OSHA Benzene Safety Training course consists of content, graphics, audio, self-check non-scored questions, and a final exam.
