Students get to know safe practices and responsibilities of employers to protect workers from heat, safety preparedness, importance of personal protective equipments (PPEs) and regular safety training. This course also educates candidates to follow immediate emergency measures in case workers experience heat stress and illness and how to implement regulatory practices.
OSHA’s heat stress related regulations are applicable to all general industries where workers experience adverse health risks due to heat.
Also, Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act, which also known as the General Duty Clause, warrants employers to mention in the appointment letters and also put up in workplaces about the presence of hazards that can be fatal, or cause any permanent injury to employees. The Clause also includes heat-related risks that can be deadly or create physical hard. Section 5(a)(2) makes employers “comply with OSH standards prescribed under this Act”.
Workers assigned to perform regular indoor or outdoor activities where they can experience high degree of heat, high radiation, low air circulatory areas or high humidity can cause irreversible health disorders and employers need to educate workers regarding safety practices and provide them with proper personal protective equipments to prevent them from all occupational risks and health hazards. This course provides a complete overview of general working conditions where workers can be subjected to various kinds of heat related dangers such as severe mental stress, physical injury or measurable health risks.
Workers and young and aspiring candidates are provided training to understand the importance of remaining safe when handling high-heat generating equipments or working in such atmosphere where they can face unbearable heat or humid conditions.
