Surface mines can be a potentially dangerous place if workers lack awareness on safety, become non-aggressive on personal safety, lack of proper training, operate faulty transport vehicles or use bad roads to transport materials.
Through this course, students learn important safety aspects to be enforced at mine sites. From designing proper roads for vehicles carrying heavy loads, inspecting all equipment, follow prevention methods, use safe disposal procedures and safety tips for workers, learners acquire operational skills to manage safety issues at mining sites.
The syllabus covered is derived from Title 30 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 56, which deals with a range of health and safety standards for surface mines.
Every miner should ensure that all safety standards are strictly followed. Safety is the collective responsibility of everyone – from ordinary workers to employers – associated with mining operations. While employers should ensure that workers are well informed and supervised for compliance, supervisors should give proper training to workers to make them follow MSHA and OSHA regulations.
Every mining site should be MSHA compliant and employees should be trained as per the regulations by the accredited safety professionals. Mining operators can use this course or any of our courses to train your workers to make mines safe and accident-free.
Employers can approach us for making a comprehensive training plan with the help of our Part 46 Surface Mining Training Plan course, which is the only such course available in the mining industry.
This online training course satisfies the training requirements of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) principles which standardize safe operations and maintenance of heavy haulage equipment.
MSHA comes under the purview of United States Department of Labor (DOL), which enforces the provisions set forth in the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 (also known as Mine Act). MSHA ensures that mine sites adhere to the provisions as per Mine Act in letter and spirit so as to reduce accidents, losses and injuries.
The training module satisfies the procedures as mentioned in Title 30 of the Code of Federal Regulations (30 CFR), Part 56, which prescribes safety and health standards to be followed at surface mines.
This course provides overview on safety aspects to reduce surface haulage accidents and methods to address several hazards that generally occur at surface mines while handling surface haulage tools and equipment.
